ARPA GRANT UPDATE

On September 17th, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners awarded the District’s ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act)Grant in the amount of $60,000. Projects completed and/or pending include:

  • Sealing of Highland Ranch Park basketball court, pedestrian walking path, & parking lot; Project cost $10,786
  • Purchase and installation of security cameras at Gepford Park; Project cost $11,324
  • Purchase of new bleachers installed at Gepford Park; Project cost $10,550
  • Purchase and installation of park picnic benches for park pavilions; Project cost $10,019
  • Park Rules Signage; Project cost $515
  • Folding chairs for the Neighborhood Center; Project cost $1,540
  • Tint Pool Building Windows; Project cost $3,000
  • Pool Pump(s) Rebuild; Project cost $6,342

 

WATERING DAYS

The District encourages water conservation year-round and encourages customers to follow Truckee Meadows Water Authority’s watering schedule of three times per week as follows:

Odd Addresses: Wednesday, Friday and Sunday

Even Addresses: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday

KTMB GREAT COMMUNITY CLEANUP

The District is participating in  the Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful Great Community Cleanup again on May 3rd.This annual event helps Sun Valley cleanup illegal dumping and encourages local community members to join in and volunteer. Last year over 124,260 pounds of litter and 2,437 tires were removed from Sun Valley. For more information or to sign up to participate, visit KTMB.org or call (775)851-5185.

 

NOW HIRING LIFEGUARDS

Are you, or someone you know, at least 15 years old and looking for a summer job? The District is now hiring lifeguards and cashiers for the 2025 Sun Valley Pool Season. Cashiers start at $12 per hour,  Lifeguards start at $14 per hour, “returning” Lifeguards start at $14.50 per hour, and Lead Lifeguards start at $15 per hour. Applications can be found on the District website or can be picked up at the District office during regular business hours.

 

DIVE INTO SUMMER EVENT

It’s getting close to that time of year where we get to kick off the warm weather! Join the District for this year’s Dive Into Summer Event on Friday, June 6th from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Sun Valley Community Park. The event is open to the public. Bring your family, friends, picnic blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy FREE food and drinks. The event will include a DJ with live music/entertainment, information booths from various community partners, $1 RAFFLE TICKETS for a chance to win great prizes, and a limited amount of free Sun Valley Pool tokens.

POOL OPENING

The Robert & Norma Fink Sun Valley Pool will open for the 2025 season on June 12th and operate through August 10th. Pool hours are Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 5 pm, as staffing and weather permit. Free senior swim hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am-12pm.

Save the dates: June 21st Free Swim Day sponsored by the Fink Family, July 4th Free Swim Day sponsored by the District.

Pool Admission Fee Schedule: Youth and Seniors general admission $4 per person, Adults $5 per person. Swim Passes: Youth and Senior 5-pass $18, 10-pass $35, Adult 5-pass $23, 10-pass $45, Family pass $20, and Season pass $100.

DID YOU KNOW?

On its monthly billings, the District charges a recreation fee of $3.50 per dwelling unit, multi-unit, apartment/condo/duplex/townhome unit, and commercial unit which helps fund a portion of the operation and maintenance of the District’s four parks, pool and recreation buildings. This fee is reviewed annually by the Board of Trustees as part of the budget process, and can be waived for those customers who qualify under low income guidelines. Seniors can receive a20% discount off this fee as well.
